The Founder of Uyo Book Club, a leading intellectual hub in Akwa Ibom State, Dr Udeme Nana, yesterday inaugurated the Ibiono Ibom Book Club in Use Ndon. The inauguration took place during the End of Year Closing Ceremony of Mass Education Centre, Use Ndon, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

Speaking before the inauguration, the Chairman of the event and an Use Ndon citizen, Akparawa Okon Imerh, Chancellor, Okon Imerh Foundation and former Director of Protocol to Governor Victor Attah, thanked God for Dr Udeme Nana who has been a reading light to the people of Akwa Ibom State and beyond. He welcomed him to Use Ndon while stating the support and acceptance of Use Ndon people to host the Book Club in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area.

While addressing the audience, Dr Nana thanked Use Ndon people for accepting to host the Book Club in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area. He took time to explain the importance and benefits of reading while urging everyone to embrace reading.

Dr Nana announced the appointment of Mr Edet E. William, Coordinator, Mass Education Centre, Use Ndon, as the Coordinator, Ibiono Ibom Book Club and urged him to grow the movement in Ibiono Ibom. In her speech, Mrs Elizabeth James, author of The Return of Judah while addressing the audience stated that she came to register her presence and leave her mark at such an epoch-making event as the Inauguration of Book Club in Ibiono Ibom. She donated copies of The Return of Judah to the Book Club while promising to be a part of the reading sessions.

Dignitaries who graced the occasion were officials from the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education; officials from the Agency for Adults and Non-formal Education, Uyo, Akwa State; Use Ndon Village Council and members of the Community; Akparawa Okon Imerh, Chancellor, Okon Imerh Foundation; Elizabeth James, Vice Principal, Cornelia Cornelly College, Uyo and author of The Return of Judah; Dr CA Bill, CEO, Ekandiwill Nigeria Enterprise Limited among others.
