…as Uyo retains status as Nigeria’s book reading Capital
…Watbridge Hotels remains host venue for 2nd year running

Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital will be agog next month as the 2nd National Conference/Annual General Meeting of Network of Book Clubs and Reading Promoters in Nigeria makes a return to the city.
Uyo, which hosted the maiden edition of the conference in 2021 was rewarded with a successive hosting right after an impressive outing in last year’s edition. It also meant that the city retained its status as Nigeria’s Book reading capital for second year in a row, a reward for the pace – setting role of Uyo Book Club in promoting reading in the country. Uyo Book Club has birthed several book clubs in the state including Raffia City Book Club, Ikot Ekpene, Eket Book Club, Abak Book Club, Ibiono Ibom Book Club among others in Schools across the state.
The 2022 Conference which would take place between 15th – 18th September at Watbridge Hotel & Suites has as theme, ‘Nigerian and African Stories: How They Fare in the Global Village’.
Meanwhile, a release signed by the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Dr. Ekong Sampson and the National Secretary of Network of Book Clubs and Reading Promoters in Nigeria, Emmanuel Okoro has invited the general public, especially lovers of books and reading groups to anticipate a bigger, richer 2022 edition of the National Conference which has given Uyo and Akwa Ibom State a new status in Nigeria.
