Uyo Book Club Congratulates Patron on Senate Nomination

A foremost intellectual hub in Akwa Ibom State, Uyo Book Club has congratulated her Patron, Rt Hon. (Barr) Ekong Sampson on his victory at the just concluded PDP Senatorial nomination exercise held recently throughout the country. Barr. Sampson last week emerged as the winner of the Akwa Ibom South senate PDP Primary.

Conveying the Club’s message of congratulations, founder of Uyo Book Club, Dr Udeme Nana described Dr Ekong Sampson as the kind of politician Nigeria needs now because of his love for Education and intellectualism. Dr Nana said that the Nigerian Senate will benefit immensely from Barr. Sampson’s cerebral contributions and scholarly engagements.

Dr. Nana also said that the former Mkpat Enin Lawmaker’s victory was a huge boost to the Book Club initiative noting that Dr. Ekong Sampson is a respected author, poet, lawyer and a lover of education.
Dr. Nana further announced that the Book Club has gained much grounds since its establishment, adding that efforts were being made to spread the virus of reading in all parts of the state. He restated the benefits of reading in our daily lives, observing that a time will come when the society will look up to people with refined sensibilities for leadership at all levels.

Dr. Nana, himself a former Media Adviser to former Governor Victor Attah and Akpabio called on members of the Club to begin preparations for the 2nd National Conference of Book Clubs scheduled to hold in Uyo this coming September.

The Drop Everything And Read , DEAR, moment of the session lasted for 2 hours and members observed it with enthusiasm.
